2002: BA in English from the University of Delaware and Temple University

2010: MAED in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University

2017: Administrative Licensure from High Point University

12 years of classroom experience as a 7th and 8th grade ELA teacher

3 years as an Instruction Lead Teacher

This is my  third year as a Bulldog. I've spent the previous twelve years at Southeast Middle School in Guilford County, where I taught Language Arts in seventh and eighth grade.

At SEMS, I coached Battle of the Books, track, football and basketball. I also served as a team leader and a department chair, and in 2014, I was presented with the Teacher of the Year award.

Currently, I serve as a chair to a variety of AMTS committees including, MTSS, SREB (LDC), SIT and OLWEUS.

In 2010, I earned a Masters degree in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University, in 2002, a BA in English from the University of Delaware and this December I'll have earned my degree in administration from high Point University.

My love of literature and creativity doesn't stop in the classroom. Outside of ATMS, I work as a freelance  copywriter; plus, I am midway through two novels and a play. I also have performed as a professional musician in the band, Lake Isle (in fact, it's not surprising to see me walk around campus with a ukulele or guitar in hand).

I've been married for nine years to the love of my life, and have two children, Rhegan and Liam, who are still just little babies. I hope they never grow up!

It is my great honor to be a part of the gifted family of teachers at ATMS. I am eager to learn from them, share what it is that they are great at, and take steps together to build upon their successes and reach new levels of mastery and accomplishment.
