Kim G. Summers

 

Mr. Summers is a native of Elon, North Carolina and a graduate of Western Alamance High School. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from East Carolina University, and a Masters Degree in Conducting from Southern Oregon University. Mr. Summers has been an employee of Randolph County Schools for the past twenty-six years. Kim earned National Board Certification in EAYA Music in 2009. Kim was Director of Bands at Trinity High School from 1989-1999; he has been teaching 7thand 8th grade band at Archdale-Trinity Middle School since 1999. He was named “Teacher of the Year” at Trinity High School in both 1996 & 1997. Mr. Summers has been teaching applied percussion and assisting with the instrumental music department at Greensboro College since 1998. Kim has a wide variety of teaching experiences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN., (Assistant Director of Bands), UT, Knoxville –Percussion Instructor-(Pride of the Southland), High Point University- (Head of Instrumental Music and Director of Bands), Greensboro College, Pfeiffer University and East Carolina University. He has served as an adjudicator for NC – MPA festivals and at various marching band festivals in NC, SC and Virginia since 1982. Kim has served as a member and leader of a variety of organizations: NC SECU-Board of Directors, NWRCAC-treasurer and founding member, Head Staff member for Mid-Atlantic Band Camps, NCMEA, NAfME, PASIC and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Summers is currently active as a performer, clinician and adjudicator. Kim and his wife Wendy, presently live in Trinity, NC and have a son named Tristan.
